He has set the stage on fire this year in the shortest formats of the game.

Nicholas Pooran has been in great form of late with the bat. He got picked in the Windies team after his heroics in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) earlier this year and the left-hander has continued the juggernaut ever since then. The change in format hasn’t affected his batting with the youngster ripping apart the bowling attacks in the T10 League as well. This is the reason why the Twitterati is expecting for him to get huge bids in the upcoming IPL auction.

Windies players are known to light up the T20 Leagues around the world and Pooran might just be another addition with the way he has been batting these days. He amassed 267 runs in 10 outings while playing for the Barbados Tridents at an exceptional strike-rate of 144.32 and the selectors couldn’t ignore him. Come the India T20I series, many thought he wouldn’t be able to continue in the same vein. But he even defied the odds with a strong show against the top Indian bowlers.

Pooran’s juggernaut continues to roll on

In two matches which he played, Nicholas Pooran scored 57 runs while remaining unbeaten once at an impeccable strike-rate of 203. The way finished the games with the bat impressed many and his name started doing the rounds among the franchises then. Having got the hold of the conditions, Pooran then travelled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the second season of the T10 League and enhanced his reputation of a fierce hitter even more.

Featuring for the Northern Warriors, Pooran has been the highest run-getter so far of the tournament with the final yet to be played. He has accumulated 306 runs in eight outings at a strike-rate of a massive 250.81 and in a format where consistency hardly matters, he averages 61.20. This kind of record should be enough for anyone to earn an IPL bid in the upcoming auction and we might well see one of the franchises securing his services for the next season.

Never mind the conditions, Nicholas Pooran has the ability to attack any bowling attack and IPL can just provide the perfect platform to the 23-year-old to express himself.
