The trading window for the thirteenth edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) has just been closed a few days ago and the excitement for the new season is sky high among the fans. Many teams have started to gear up ahead of the auction which is going to take place on 19th of December 2019 in the City of Joy- Kolkata. This will be the first time ever Kolkata will host an IPL auction since the inception of the tournament.

All eyes will be obviously on the defending champions and the most successful team in the history of IPL, Mumbai Indians (MI). The Ambani owned side has won a mesmerising finale last year when they beat their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a single run. They have retained their core group of players, the one thing which they do almost every year. But at the same time, they retained some unexpected names.

Let us look at the three players which should have been released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL auctions:-

Anmolpreet Singh

Anmolpreet Singh was a teenage sensation, who shook the Indian cricketing world with his breathtaking stroke-play in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018 which eventually India won. He was the architect of that record-breaking title win when he carried his side to a commanding victory in the semi-final match. He straightaway caught eyeballs of many in the cricketing fraternity.

It was not long before he could grab a lucrative IPL contract. In the following IPL auction in that same year, he was bought by one of the most successful teams in IPL, Mumbai Indians. He was all set to play for the famous franchise but the chance never came. He didn’t even get a single game throughout the season because of the star-studded Mumbai batting line-up.

Anmolpreet has been a sensation in the Indian domestic circuit and he must get maximum chances on a big platform like IPL to attract the national selectors. With Mumbai, having so much firepower in the batting department, it won’t be a surprise if he don’t make his IPL debut even in the upcoming edition of the tournament. He should have been released so that he could get more playing time elsewhere.
