They have played poor cricket in the first few games of the tournament. And if they continue their bad run of form, then they might also be axed from their respective sides.

Chennai Super Kings had a lot of hopes from their senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja this season. In Suresh Raina’s absence, he was expected to step up in all the departments of the game. But as it turned out, CSK’s preferred left-arm spinner is yet to make a remarkable contribution with the ball.

He has picked only three wickets in five matches so far and most importantly, has been expensive while bowling in the middle overs. In the first three matches, Jadeja conceded 42, 40 and 44 runs in his four-over spell and MS Dhoni had no one to fall back upon. The southpaw has fared decently with the bat though scoring a fifty. But more is expected of him in both the aspects.

This performance is in complete contrast to what he did last year. Jadeja had picked 15 wickets in 16 matches in the previous season and most importantly, his economy read only 6.35. Even while not picking wickets, he kept a lid on the run-scoring. But his left-arm isn’t being effective and he will have to up his game soon for CSK to have any chance of making it to the playoffs this year.
