Ever since Chris Gayle left the franchise, it feels like the Royal Challengers have failed to find a good opener for themselves who can contribute runs as swiftly as the legendary West Indian. They tried out Parthiv Patel in that position, but he clearly doesn’t fit in the boots of the great man from Jamaica.

This is a golden opportunity for the Royal Challengers to grab one of the most swashbuckling openers available in the market. Chris Lynn was released by Kolkata Knight Riders, who was bought by the franchise for a whopping INR 9.4 Crore in 2018 and probably in a bid to win him back for a cheaper price, he was sent back to the auction.

Bangalore already have a fabulous batting option in Devdutt Padikkal in the opening department and if the youngster can get to rub shoulders with a batsman of Lynn’s quality, it is benefitting more than one party. The only concern for the franchise is that a lot of teams will be looking for him and his asking price will not be any less.
