IPL 2020: Match 10, RCB vs MI – Royal Challengers Bangalore Player Ratings

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were cruising when the Mumbai Indians (MI) needed a mammoth 90 runs to win off their last five overs at a rate of 18. However, Virat Kohli and Co imploded at the death and the match ended up, going in the Super Over.

Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan made sure that the Mumbai-based franchise got a foothold back into the match after a rather subdued start. Batting first, RCB hammered 201 in 20 overs after solid performances from their top and middle-order.

The score didn’t turn out to be enough, but the Challengers held their nerve in the one-over eliminator. MI’s Jasprit Bumrah tried his heart out, defending eight runs, but RCB got home in the last ball. Even as RCB won their second game, Rohit Sharma’s men have now lost two games.

Devdutt Padikkal- 9/10

Devdutt Padikkal started in a cautious manner, but put on 81 runs for the opening wicket along with Aaron Finch. The left-hander scored 54 off 40 balls with the help of five fours and two massive sixes off James Pattinson. He played until the 18th over after which Trent Boult accounted for his wicket.

Aaron Finch- 9/10

Aaron Finch was the aggressor and RCB got 59 runs in the powerplay courtesy his powerful batting. He had a quiet time in the first two games, but came out firing on all cylinders. The openers managed 52 runs off 35 balls with seven fours and a six. Trent Boult got rid of him in the ninth over.

Virat Kohli- 3/10

Virat Kohli’s indifferent run with the bat in the IPL continued. He strained to get going and could only manage three runs off 11 balls. His misery was brough to an end by leg-spinner Rahul Chahar. However, he came back and hit the winning shot off Bumrah in the all-important Super Over.

AB de Villiers- 9.5/10

AB de Villiers was again at his very best with the bat in hand. To start with, his 24-ball 55, laced with four fours and as many sixes, helped the Challengers go past the 200-run mark. He played at a strike-rate of 229.16. In the Super Over, he smacked Bumrah for a four through fine leg in the Super Over.

Shivam Dube- 9/10

Shivam Dube didn’t get to bowl, but played a useful cameo that turned out to be decisive in the context of the encounter. The southpaw came to bat in the 18th over and smashed 27 off 10 balls with the help of one four and three sixes. He shared a 47-run stand with ABD for the fourth wicket.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann- N/A

Washington Sundar- 9.5/10

Washington Sundar picked up the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma, who, unsuccessfully, tried to clear the deep mid-wicket boundary. Most importantly, he gave away seven runs, bowling in the powerplay. In the end, he bowled 13 dot balls and ended with impressive figures of 4-0-12-1.

Isuru Udana- 7/10

Isuru Udana was reasonable in the first three overs he bowled. In the last over, he was entrusted to defend 19 runs and he leaked 18 of them. Kishan hit him for two sixes after which Pollard pulled him for a four. However, in the final over itself, he pinned the young Kishan, who batted brilliantly for 99.

Navdeep Saini- 4/10

Navdeep Saini didn’t have the greatest of days as he was only RCB bowler to remain wickeless. In four overs, he leaked 43 runs. The positive aspect of his bowling was that he conceded only one boundary in the 19th over. The Delhi fast bowler also gave away a couple of wides in his spell.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 6/10

Yuzvendra Chahal looked a tad off colour, though he picked up the vital scalp of Quinton de Kock. The leg-spinner gave away 48 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 12. Kishan and Pollard was severe on him. The tweaker only bowled two dot deliveries and went for four sixes and a four.

Adam Zampa- 5.5/10

Adam Zampa replaced Dale Steyn in the eleven and turned out to be RCB’s most expensive bowler on the day. The Australian leg-spinner dismissed Hardik Pandya, but Pollard took him to the cleaners. In four overs, Zampa leaked 53 runs and conceded one four and five massive sixes.
