IPL 2020: Match 29, SRH vs CSK – Watson’s record against SRH bowlers and Rashid’s death overs success

A struggling Chennai Super Kings will be in action on Tuesday in the IPL 2020 as they take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Super Kings have been batting first in every match of the tournament through which they managed to win just two games. Sunrisers, on the other hand, are missing the effectiveness in the bowling and haven’t shown enough aggression with the bat either.

Sunrisers to get in Nadeem for SRH vs CSK?

Shane Watson’s success against Sunrisers Hyderabad usually depends upon his survival against Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s opening spell who has been ruled out of the tournament. None of the current playing XI bowlers has got the better of Watson in the IPL thus far and things could get worse for SRH if that record continues as it is on Tuesday. Rashid Khan and Sandeep Sharma, who are the most experienced ones in the SRH line-up, conceded 164 runs in only 68 balls.

If Watson and CSK come out all guns blazing as MS Dhoni said at the post-match presentation, Sunrisers Hyderabad could be in big trouble. The only player in the SRH squad to have dismissed Watson in the IPL is Shahbaz Nadeem. The left-arm spinner has bowled four times to Watson in the IPL and has taken the Australian’s wicket twice in 25 balls. Watson has shown struggles against left-arm spinners over the years and a traditional spinner like Nadeem will be an ideal one.

More overs for Rashid at the death?

Rashid Khan has got good numbers during the death overs in the IPL 2020 as his economy rate is only 6.6 across five overs he bowled. In the previous three seasons, Rashid’s economy rate at the death was over 7.9 at least. Given Rashid’s match-ups against Watson and Rayudu, the Sunrisers might have a good chance if they hold the leg-spinner for the backend during SRH vs CSK. However, this move will work only if the SRH has got bowlers who can force wickets in the first ten overs.

Will Holder get a chance?

In the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Sunrisers have not got a proper new ball bowler. Sandeep Sharma hasn’t been at his best forcing Thangarasu Natarajan to bowl in the powerplay. At this point, SRH can think of bringing in either of Jason Holder and Mohammad Nabi in place of Kane Williamson for SRH vs CSK. The NZ skipper has been walking to bat in the last five overs of the inning in the past two games. Holder has had decent success with the bat going along with new ball spells during the recent CPL.
