Delhi Capitals (DC), yet again, managed to pip the Mumbai Indians (MI) to the top of the points table in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This time around, the team, led by Shreyas Iyer, beat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 13 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The Capitals showed why their bowling attack is deemed as one of the strongest in the tournament. After winning the toss and electing to bat, DC could only notch 161 for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

In the second innings, the Royals came out firing on all cylinders, but the Capitals hit back with regular wickets. In the end, courtesy of some immaculate death bowling from DC, the Royals ended on 148 for eight. With their fifth defeat, RR keep languishing at seventh in the points table.

Here are the DC Player Ratings for the DC vs RR match: –

Prithvi Shaw- 1/10

Prithvi Shaw was faced with an absolute peach in the very first ball he faced. Pacer Jofra Archer bowled an inswinger and the leather cannoned into the stumps. Shaw could only get a golden duck.

Shikhar Dhawan- 9.5/10

Shikhar Dhawan played aggressively, helping DC gain 47 runs in the powerplay. The southpaw scored 57 runs off 33 balls with six fours and a couple of sixes. Shreyas Gopal ended his stay in the middle.

Ajinkya Rahane- 1.5/10

Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t make much of an impact with the bat in hand. He came to bat after Shaw perished early. He tried to take on Archer, but could only mistime the ball to the mid-on fielder.

Shreyas Iyer- 9/10

Shreyas Iyer scored a superlative half-century and helped the Capitals recover after they lost the early wickets of Shaw and Dhawan. Kartik Tyagi accounted for his wicket after he got a 43-ball 53.

Marcus Stoinis- 5/10

Marcus Stoinis has been playing at a high strike-rate in the tournament. However, he was unable to up the ante in the death overs. He crawled to 18 off 19 before he became Archer’s third victim.

Alex Carey- 5.5/10

Alex Carey also couldn’t get the ball to the boundary frequently enough. He carted Archer for a six over the point region, but couldn’t get many runs. In 13 balls, he scored 14 runs before Jaydev Unadkat got him.

Axar Patel- 7.5/10

Axar Patel scored seven off four at the fag end of DC’s innings. With the ball, he rattled Sanju Samson’s woodwork. In his four overs, the left-arm spinner gave away 32 runs with eight dots.

Ravi Ashwin- 9.5/10

Ravi Ashwin was the one, who started putting the breaks on the Royals’ innings. He started with Steve Smith’s wicket and he bowled at an economy of 4.25. He also bowled 10 dot deliveries.

Tushar Deshpande- 9/10

Tushar Deshpande didn’t show any sort of nerves on his IPL debut. He picked up the wicket of Ben Stokes and then nipped out Shreyas Gopal. In four overs, the pacer gave 37 runs with 10 dot balls.

Kagiso Rabada- 8/10

Kagiso Rabada was again sensational, to say the least. He bowled with pace and venom. Though he got only Jofra’s wicket, he was hard to get away. In four overs, KG gave 28 runs with nine dot balls.

Anrich Nortje- 9/10

Anrich Nortje bowled over 150 kph on a consistent basis. In four overs, he was hit for two sixes. But instead of getting ruffled, he returned with Jos Buttler’s wicket. The pacer also castled Robin Uthappa.
