The 30th match of the Indian Premier League went live from Dubai between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. DC flaunted their class yet again to win the thriller by 13 runs. Deciding to walk the field with the bat first, DC posted a modest 161/7 on the board. Shikhar Dhawan (57 off 33) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (53 off 43) remained stunning with their bats to let their team have the upper hand in the contest.
Anrich Nortje was named as player of the match for his outstanding bowling show. England stunner Jofra Archer remained phenomenal with the ball as he conceded just 19 runs in his span of four overs and picked three wickets. Jaydev Unadkat picked two wickets for his team.
DC bowlers led them home
Hunting down the target, RR had a fine start but stumbled as they moved down their middle and lower order. Ben Stokes (41 off 35) and Robin Uthappa( 32 off 37) remained the highest scorers from Rajasthan’s batting line up. All the bowlers were perfect in their Job from DC, but star spinner Ravi Ashwin maintained the best economy. Anrich Nortje and debutant Tushar Deshpande picked two wickets each for their team.

Disappointing. The wicket slowed up a bit as the game went on. We got off to a good start with Jos and Stokesy, then we lost a couple wickets and got another partnership between Stokesy and Sanju, then again lost wickets in clumps and on slow wickets it is hard to make up too many runs at the backend. We needed to take it a bit deeper from some of our batters and we were not able to do that. We thought we bowled well at the backend and restricted them to 160-odd, that was probably around par on this wicket. And the opening partnership got us ahead in the game but we couldn’t extend those partnerships, boys were getting in and getting out, not going on to make 50 or 60. It has been the trend in the tournament, the boys that have the air speed have had the most success, Jofra has been great for us and same with Nortje and Rabada for Delhi. They changed things around tonight by bowling with pace, taking pace off and varying it nicely, we weren’t able to deal with that. We are not in the greatest position at the moment, so need to move on from this and hopefully come back with a big game in three days time.
Stand-in winning skipper, Shikhar Dhawan said
He’s in pain but his shoulder is moving. We’ll get proper report tomorrow. One moment it was quite even and to pick it back from there was a team effort. Was important we stayed positive as a team. Knew their batting isn’t deep. Knew if we got their top-order we can get them. Everytime we want them to deliver they’re delivering. Courage he showed, line and length he bowled was amazing (Deshpande). Have to keep the momentum. Long tournament. Will keep the process going.

Been feeling it the last few days. Nice to see some results. Buttler played them really well. Maybe I was a touch too full. Didn’t expect him to go for a six first ball. Maybe he was expecting something else off that delivery. Stuck to my strength and paid off. Didn’t expect the second ramp. Luckily I stuck to it. We’ve got a good coach in Ryan. Lovely working with KG. Tushar has been working in the nets. Enjoying my experience with them. Doesn’t look like it but it’s nerve-wracking. Better to be on the field than on the other side.
