The 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will get underway between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The stories have reversed for both the teams in this season. While RCB is floating in the top slots, CSK has just not been able to get things in their favour this year. The team that has enjoyed playoffs in all the seasons, won the trophy thrice, and dominated like real Kings, is suffering big time now.
RCB is walking in style after their repeated victories. Though CSK is technically out of the race for playoffs, they might land in the top four, given some miracle and luck. Skipper MS Dhoni has already stated that they would try their sheer best for their last stand in the coming matches. Keeping his statements in mind, let’s see the probable squad of CSK.
CSK Predicted Playing XI vs RCB
Openers (Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad)
Young Ruturaj was given chance in the last match against MI where he failed to get anything for the team along with class batsman Faf du Plessis. Though Du Plessis showed some serious consistency in the initial games, he is lacking with the bat in the last few matches. With CSK at least needing to display a bit of quality cricket, both will be expected to give some desired start to their team against RCB.
Middle Order ( Ambati Rayudu, Narayan Jagadeesan, and MS Dhoni)
Talking of the CSK’s recent batting performance, it fell too low and ended up shocking fans over the limit. Aggressive batters like Rayudu also came and left the pitch in no time. Young Jagadeesan was knocked down for a duck, and it left CSK stumbling at 3/4. The middle-order would be expected to show some serious intent to mould CSK’s innings towards a respectable end. Rayudu, who has already shown some epic heroics for the yellow brigade earlier, would be expected to rise to the occasion.
MS Dhoni has just not been able to get his team over the line this season. Starting from luck, form, and intent, everything seems lacking in the team and a bit in him too. In the line of his recent statements, he would be expected to lead his team with better intent and attitude in the game against Virat Kohli and company.
All-rounders (Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran)
Jadeja was showing pure class for his side during the last few matches of CSK. However, he failed to help his team pull out of the terrible situation and gave his wicket at a crucial time. He would be expected to show some heroics in the next match with both bat and ball.
Sam Curran was the only player who sparked some fightback in the CSK squad, which was struggling to touch even the 100-run mark. He showed heroics in extreme pressure situations and smashed a sublime half-century. He would be expected to replicate his class in the remaining matches of the Yellow Army.
Bowlers (Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur, and Josh Hazlewood)
Chahar is known for showing magic with the new ball. However, even he failed to get some success for his team in the outing against Indians. MI decimated them by 10 wickets in the last game and it becomes quite obvious that bowlers lacked some serious form.
Tahir was expected to show up his class in the very first match as his entry in the playing XI was much awaited. Though he remained economical as compared to his counterparts, he couldn’t get a single scalp on his name. CSK would expect some fine spin attack from his side in the upcoming matches.
Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood have shown some decent form for their team in some games. Though Thakur turned out to be expensive for the team, he might be given chance in the next match. In the same manner, Hazlewood would be expected to show a bit of class pace skills in the next game.
