All the eight teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced their released and retained list of players ahead of the auction which is slated to take place on December 19 in Kolkata. The deadline for the same set for 5 PM on Friday and accordingly, all the franchises submitted their final list to the concerned authorities.

As many as 11 players were traded by the teams and among those, Mayank Markande was traded twice. The spinner who made headlines for his exceptional bowling in IPL 2018, was traded by the Mumbai Indians (MI) to the Delhi Capitals (DC). However, DC traded him soon to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and will turn up for the Men in Pink in the upcoming season.

Other major trade-offs were Ajinkya Rahane moving his base to the Capitals from the Royals while Ravi Ashwin also joined him after leading the Kings XI Punjab in the last couple of seasons. As far as the released players are concerned, the Royals let go of 11 of them and are now left with Rs 28.9 crore in their purse.

KXIP left with the maximum purse among all teams ahead of IPL auction

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) took some tough decisions when the trading window was open and have also released some top players from the squad. They released David Miller, Sam Curran, Varun Chakravarthy and Andrew Tye and have Rs 42.7 crore in their purse. The franchise should be more active in the auction now as they can pick nine more players with the available purse.

Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the three of the top four teams in the previous seasons, have managed to retain most of their core players. They are left with the least purse among all the eight teams. Among all the teams, the CSK is left with only five slots to form a complete squad of 25 players and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have as many as 12 slots available. The Virat Kohli-led side can also pick as many as six overseas players in their line-up with Rs 27.9 crore left in their purse.
