The remainder of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence from September 19. Ahead of the start of the tournament, the franchises had to put their thinking hats on for replacements of the players, as many players have opted out of the tournament due to varied reasons. With the replacement players now been announced, there is a lot of anticipation around them.

The teams that had a positive start to their campaign in the Indian leg of the tournament will be aiming to continue the momentum further. Whereas the teams that struggled a tad bit to make an impact would be all raring to bounce back. However, the team combination and balance vastly depends on the playing conditions.

With the addition of new players, the teams will look forward to making most of the resources they possess. Amongst the replacements announced by the franchises, there are quite a few names that have intrigued the cricket on-lookers. These players might prove extremely pivotal for the teams to change their fortunes. In a tournament like IPL where almost every game turns out to be an exciting affair, the role of game-changers becomes crucial.

Here are 5 new recruits who might prove game-changers in the UAE leg of IPL 2021:

1. Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga has been roped in as the replacement of Adam Zampa in the RCB side. In his comparatively young T20I career, he has already risen to the No.2 spot in the ICC rankings for bowlers. He recently shone for the Sri Lankan side in the T20I series against India and fashioned the team’s series triumph. The leg-spin bowling all-rounder made a name for himself with splendid performances in the Lanka Premier League.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have had an impressive start to their tournament in the first half. They have won five matches from the seven that they have played and are placed in the third position of the points table with 10 points to their account. Considering the playing conditions in the UAE that are expected to assist the spinners, Hasaranga can be an impactful player for RCB.

Hasaranga has good form by his side and the team can benefit from it. Alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, he can strengthen the team’s spin attack. Hasaranga also comes in quite handy with the bat. Owing to this, RCB can bat deep with an extra spinning option and if the surface has a lot for spinners, Hasaranga can help the team to continue their good run in the tournament.
