The Kiwi all-rounder has grown over the years as a reliable choice in T20 cricket. James Neesham is a decent medium pacer who can give a few overs to his captain also finish the innings strongly batting down the order. He is a regular part of the New Zealand limited-overs squads and has substantial international experience.

He has played 29 T20Is for New Zealand, where he has scored 324 runs at a strike rate north of 155. He has also taken 18 wickets in T20Is, with the best figures of 3/16. He was first picked in the IPL by Delhi in 2014 followed by KKR in the next season.

Last year he played for the Punjab Kings but did not put up any great performances. But his consistent performances for the Kiwis earned him a contract from MI this year.

However, Mumbai already has three genuine allrounders in the Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard. Thus, he might not get many games in the season and can be traded to teams like RR, who are in need of a good overseas player.
