The marquee game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) got the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) underway on Sunday. And it was a sensational start for the five-time champions as Trent Boult and Adam Milne picked two wickets upfront to send back Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali respectively for ducks.

Ambati Rayudu then walked out to bat at number four and he was expected to rebuild the innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle. Milne was bowling at express pace in his first over and didn’t make it easy for Rayudu as he couldn’t get off the mark off the first two balls.

Off the last ball of the second over, Ambati Rayudu shuffled towards the off-side in a bid to score some runs. But Milne delivered a short ball at the awkward height even as the batsman took evasive action. The ball ended up hitting Rayudu’s arm and was immediately seen grimacing in pain. The physio attended him soon and after a little deliberation, the man decided to walk off as he continued to be in extreme pain.

CSK get off to the worst possible start

Meanwhile, after opting to bat first, CSK got off to the worst possible start to their innings. After losing Du Plessis and Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu walked off and it doesn’t seem like he will be coming back to bat. They also lost Suresh Raina in the very next over off Trent Boult. The left-handed batsman looked unsettled right from the outset and played a rash shot to be holed out to Rahul Chahar inside the 30-yard circle.

As far as the teams are concerned, CSK were boosted with the likes of Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis getting fit just in time. Moreover, MI are missing Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in action for various reasons but it seems, the duo won’t be missed much in this game at least.
