With the 2021 Indian Premier League set to resume in the United Arab Emirates from September 19, all the teams are busy training for the UAE challenge. However, in between those enervating sessions, a little bit of a breather does not hurt anyone. In one of such recreational team bonding exercises of the Punjab Kings, head coach Anil Kumble and coach Wasim Jaffer were seen in a Karaoke event.

“PBKS Karaoke🎤Two cricketing legends on a different wicket! @ anil.kumble @wasimjaffer14 #SaddaPunjab #PunjabKings”, the post was captioned that showed both Kumble and Jaffer singing an old Bollywood track.

As for the second leg of the IPL, the league resumes with the clash of arch-rivals Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The league had to be abruptly postponed earlier this year due to the emergence of Covid-19 cases inside the bio-bubbles of four different teams across two cities, forcing the BCCI and IPL Governing Council to take the harsh call of halting the tournament.

After plenty of thoughtful contemplations, the board zeroed in on UAE as the venue to host the remainder of the season, which remains paused at Match No. 29. The resuming league phase of the tournament is supposed to run until October 8, with the first qualifier scheduled on October 10. The Eliminator, second qualifier and the final will be played on October 11, 13 and 15, respectively. Incidentally, the T20 World Cup 2021 starts only two days after the IPL final.

PBKS’ IPL 2021 journey

At the time of season suspension, the Delhi Capitals occupied the top spot with 12 points in eight games, followed by MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, who both are tied on 10 points from seven fixtures. Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings occupy the sixth position in the tally, having lost five games out of the eight they played.

They begin their second leg proceedings against the fifth-placed Rajasthan Royals on September 21 in Dubai followed by encounters against Sunrisers Hyderabad (September 25), Mumbai Indians (September 28), Kolkata Knight Riders (October 1), Royal Challengers Bangalore (October 3) and Chennai Super Kings (October 7).
