England is all set to tour Pakistan in the month of October for two T20Is and the English players bound with IPL franchises are most likely to miss their international outing. The two T20Is will be held on October 13 and 14 at Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
In the latest turn of events, England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed to the BCCI that they have no issues in their players participating in the extravagant league to be held in the UAE. The second phase of the IPL 2021 will take place in the UAE and will kick off from September 19 with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
The first phase which was being held in India was called off on May 4 due to the sudden eruption of COVID-19 cases across various IPL camps. England players were earlier being doubted for the UAE leg due to their tight international schedule but BCCI and ECB sorted the issues and English players got the nod.
“We have got a call from the IPL office and have been informed that the boards have no objection to their players’ participation. It is now up to the players,” said Kasi Vishwanatha, CEO of CSK as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Our Australian and English players [Jason Behrendorff, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali] are available,” said PBKS CEO Satish Menon.
New Zealand IPL 2021 bound players may also miss the Pakistan tour
It has to be noted that New Zealand is all set to tour Pakistan in the month of September and IPL bound players of NZ have also been left out from the ODI and T20I squads. The limited-overs series between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place between September 17 and October 03. The UAE leg of IPL 2021 is being backed by many big players to act as a great practice for teams moving into the T20 World Cup 2021. As both the events will be held in the same conditions of the UAE, playing in IPL is expected to boost up the preparation of various players and teams.
