After suffering a humiliating seven-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings would be determined to get back on winning track. They will meet Delhi Capitals in their next fixture and fans must gear up to witness an exciting contest. After all, CSK and DC are holding the top two positions. Although CSK are still ahead of Delhi in the points table, they have some issues to resolve ahead of the upcoming game.

Despite posting 189/4 against RR, CSK endured a thumping defeat. From Josh Hazlewood to Sam Curran, every bowler was taken to cleaners as the Men in Pink crossed the line in 17.1 overs. Although the defeat didn’t really dent CSK’s campaign, it exposed few flaws in the sides. Moreover, DC’s batting line-up is studded with dashers. Hence, it would be interesting to see how this game unfolds.

Meanwhile, here’s the predicted Playing XI of Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2021 Match 50:

Openers – Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad

The openers have been instrumental in CSK’s sensational run. Both Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been brilliant at the top, giving the side one blistering start after another. Although both openers have done well, Gaikwad has been particularly in the UAE leg. During his outing against RR, Gaikwad slammed his maiden IPL hundred.

The knock also saw him becoming the first batter to cross 500 runs this season. At the same time, Faf du Plessis has also scored over 450 runs. Hence, the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have to make the new ball talk against the duo.

Middle-order – Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni

As mentioned above, there have been some flaws in CSK’s sensational campaign. One of them is the dismal show of the middle-order. Hailed as Mr. IPL, Suresh Raina has really not done much after scoring a fifty in his first outing this season. Notably, a player of Robin Uthappa’s caliber has been warming the benches. However, with the season being at its business end, the southpaw is unlikely to face the axe.

Ambati Rayudu has played some impressive knocks this season. However, his failures have put CSK in a spot of bother several times. Hence, the veteran would like to put up a substantial show. MS Dhoni doesn’t have much to show in terms of runs either. Nevertheless, he continues to be a formidable force in the captaincy and leadership department.

All-rounders – Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo

Fortunately for CSK, all-rounders have made up for the middle-order’s mediocre show. Batting at number three, Moeen Ali has been aggressive regardless the situation of the same. Keeping the last game aside, Ali has also been economical with his off-spins. As far as Ravindra Jadeja, the southpaw has been sensational in all three departments.

While the left-arm spinner has kept batters quiet, his striking in end overs has also helped CSK. With CSK sealing the playoff berth, Dwayne Bravo was rested against RR and Sam Curran replaced him. However, the England star endured a tough time with the ball. Hence, Bravo’s return is a certainty. After all, the veteran has been tormenting batters in the end overs alongside contributing in the batting department.

Bowlers – Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood

Deepak Chahar is also likely to come in place of KM Asif. Like Bravo, the former was also rested for the last game and Asif got a chance. However, after such a defeat, the team management should go back with the basics. Chahar has made the new ball talk this season, generating swing on the flattest of decks.

He’ll share the new ball with Josh Hazlewood. Largely known for his heroics in the longest format, Hazlewood has done well in the powerplay overs barring the last game. The remaining spot will be occupied by Shardul Thakur. The right-arm pacer somehow continues to do well and would like to shine against DC as well.

CSK’s Predicted XI for match 50 against DC: Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c and wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood
