The Indian Premier League’s 2021 edition is set to resume on September 19 after a Covid-enforced hiatus, and with that has resumed Wasim Jaffer’s coded messages and Twitter posts.

The former India player took to Twitter ahead of the blockbuster clash of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians and wrote, “Watchout for these 2 tonight. #CSKcMI #IPL 2021”, with a picture of Bollywood actors Juhi Chawla and Shahrukh Khan from the movie “Darr”, which left plenty on the platform confused.

After a while though, someone cracked half the mystery open, figuring out that Jaffer is hinting Mumbai’s Rahul Chahar (actor Shahrukh’s name in the movie) as one of the players to watch out for. What, however, left Twitterati bemused was Juhi Chawla’s reference, as her movie name was Kiran Chawla, leaving users confused between West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.

CSK, MI to kickstart 2021 IPL’s UAE leg

The league is to resume on September 19, with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings having a go at each other. As if the proposition is any less exciting, the last these two met this year turned out to be an encounter for ages, with Pollard’s blinder helping Mumbai to successfully script the second-highest chase in IPL history.

The 14th league edition was postponed in a unanimous decision taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council on May 4, after a spate of Covid-19 cases emerged inside the bio-bubbles of four different teams across two cities. After plenty of deliberations and head-scratching, the league resumes in UAE, where the 31 unfinished games will be played across three venues.

As per the new schedule, the Dubai International Stadium will host 13 of the remaining 31 games including the first qualifier and the final, while Sharjah will have 10 fixtures including the Eliminator and the second qualifier. The remaining fixtures will be played in Abu Dhabi. The league phase of the tournament is supposed to run until October 8, with the first qualifier scheduled on October 10. The Eliminator, second qualifier and the final will be played on October 11, 13 and 15, respectively.
