The Indian Premier League (IPL) is expanding itself in the year 2022 with the addition of two new teams in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. The bidding for the two new teams began in October, with CVC Capital acquiring Ahmedabad and the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group acquiring Lucknow.

The retention policy for the existing eight teams was also announced, with four maximum possible retentions, either three Indians and one overseas or two Indians and two overseas. Before the mega auction, a maximum of two uncapped players can be retained. In addition, after retentions, the two new teams will be able to select three players each, with two Indians and one overseas player.

While many star players will come back into the Auction pool, some fresh faces will also get involved in the auction and the IPL franchises might have a look at them ahead of the marquee event.

Here are five fresh faces who may attract decent bids in the upcoming IPL mega auctions:

5. Josh Inglis

The promising wicketkeeper-batter from Australia made his name when he was picked in Australia’s World T20 squad without featuring even for a single game for them. Inglis plays for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL and the London Spirit in the Hundred Competition, making him a valuable player with experience in leagues all over the world.

Inglis plays for the Perth Scorchers in BBL and has produced two consecutive 400-plus run seasons in both BBL09 and BBL10. In the Hundred, he scored 173 runs at a strike rate of 136.20 with two fifties to his name. He is a prolific batter, who adds versatility to any batting order. He can open, control the innings in the middle-order, and can also provide the finishing touches. He has a broad range of shots that he can use against both pacers and spinners.

He also has good hitting ability in the death. Inglis has a career strike rate of 153.70, which will undoubtedly pique the interest of some IPL franchises looking for a batter to float for a specific role depending on the match situation. He is also an excellent fielder and a very efficient wicketkeeper, making him a multidimensional player.
