When Mumbai Indians picked the U-19 stars, everybody who had followed the last two U-19 World Cup was over the moon and excited to see the players in action. This was very particularly a matter for Tilak Varma, who had been bought because of his fearless approach to batting. The 19-year-old is arguably the biggest positive for Mumbai Indians from IPL 2022.

Tilak, who is known for his clean striking, has been the most consistent and the highest run scorer for his team this season. MI bought his services for INR 1.7 crores at the 2022 mega auction and it turned out to be a life-changing moment for the left-hander, as he displayed some great display of batting in different match situations.

The Hyderabad-born cricketer played all league matches in his first IPL season smashing 397 runs at a strike rate of 131.02 which includes two-fifties. His best performance came against the Rajasthan Royals where he scored 61 off 33 balls, however his brilliant knock couldn’t avoid the defeat but it reflects the temperament of dealing pressure situations.
