The Caribbean batter Shimron Hetmyer was consistent in the Delhi Capitals (DC) middle order for the last few editions but missed out on the retentions. The Royals availed his services to bolster their batting department in the 2022 season. In his first three knocks, Hetmyer returned with knocks of 32* off 13, and 35 * off 14 and established himself as the finisher of the team.

Thereafter, he delivered knocks of 42* off 31 balls and 59* off 36 balls. The performances of the 25-year-old helped the Royals team to win the crunch moments and gain further momentum in the tournament. In the second half, his form dipped, and could not provide hefty contributions.

However, in the last three league matches, he scored 64 runs and will be a key player for the team in the playoffs. In 12 matches, Hetmyer has 297 runs at a strike rate of 163.19.
