The Indian Premier League auction has always presented new opportunities for every team. Each time a team manages to buy the best possible combination from the pool and there is always one team that falls out when it comes to getting the big guns. However, the auction is just 10% of the work a franchise has to do in a year.

The other 90% of the work has to be the execution of the plans. Post-auction, the management has to take care that the players get the best treatment. This is mainly because a good atmosphere brings the best out of everyone.

Talking about players, this time, many cricketers went under the hammer. Even though a few were unable to get any bidders, some players like Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, and Shreyas Iyer were signed for whopping amounts. Let us have a look at the best XI from the sold players.

Best Sold XI from IPL 2022 mega auction:

1. David Warner

As David Warner was sold for INR 6.25 crores, Wasim Jaffer hilariously stated that it was a “Sarojini Nagar Market Level Bargain”. Well, that is true, because the Player of the Series of the T20 World Cup was expected to get a whopping amount. But Warner didn’t get as much and will not be playing for the SRH this time. Delhi Capitals secured his services on the opening day of the auction.

On the other side, the Delhi Capitals are now stronger than ever. They have a power-packed batting order thanks to the inclusion of Warner. Adding on, alongside him, we will be witnessing the presence of the young Prithvi Shaw.

Warner is a former captain and his valuable insights can help Pant. With 5449 runs to his name, Warner is one of the most consistent batsmen in the tournament. Adding on, he has a strike rate of 139.97 with the bat, which means he takes very little time to settle down.

2. Faf du Plessis

It was a piece of huge news for CSK fans as the Chennai-based franchise was unable to buy back Faf du Plessis. For someone who has served them for over a decade, it was heartbreaking. But, with a new team comes new opportunity and Faf is shifting to the RCB camp.

The veteran will join the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. In 100 IPL games, Faf has scored 2935 runs at an average of 34.94. He has been consistent over the years for MS Dhoni and hopefully, will take over the role of captain for RCB.

Talking about his fielding, he is one of the finest in the game. He guards the long-off, and long on, and we have seen his magic on the field over the years. Now, with a new role, and less international burden, Faf will be more dangerous than ever.

3. Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper)

Ishan Kishan hogged the limelight in the auction as he became the most expensive of the event with MI bagging him for a whopping amount of INR 15.25 crore. The southpaw is now the future of franchise and hence, a lot depends on how he plays this time. Last season was not great for him and was also dropped from the team.

Kishan is someone who will not waste deliveries to settle down in the middle. He can tear apart any bowling attack from the word go. For MI, he went on to smash 30 sixes in the 2020 season which proves he has hitting skills.

He is the wicketkeeper too and is one of the fittest youngsters going around. Adding on, if required, he can counterattack on the opposition as well. Kishan can destroy any attack for fun and the freedom he gets makes him even more dangerous.

4. Shreyas Iyer (captain)

Shreyas Iyer oozes class, and this makes him one of the best batsmen in the country. His bold moves have helped Delhi to get back into the top four in 2019 and 2020 seasons. This time around, he will aim to take Kolkata to greater heights.

With a huge sum of money under his name, Shreyas will be looking to get into the core group of KKR. His records speak for themselves as he has scored 2375 runs in 87 IPL games. His strike-rate of 124 might not highlight his hitting skills, but Iyer can hit a long ball and can also rotate strike according to the requirements of the team.

He is a terrific fielder and his all-around abilities make him a fan favorite. Shreyas Iyer is likely to be named the KKR captain and hence, he is the captain of this XI too.

5. Nitish Rana

A left-handed batsman in the middle order in this lineup makes it a bit difficult for the bowler to settle in. And with the batsman being Nitish Rana, it is even harder for the bowler as he is technically sound and stylish. Rana has been a part of KKR for quite some time now and the franchise secured his services yet again for INR 8 crore.

In 77 IPL games, he has scored 1870 runs at an average of 28. With a strike rate of 132.46, Rana can anchor the inning and accelerate at the end. Talking about his approach, the southpaw takes some time to settle down. But once he sets his eye in, there is no stopping for him.

Apart from his batting, he can bowl some useful off-spin as well. In 77 IPL games, Rana has been bowling with an economy rate of 8.03. He can chip in a couple of overs if the team needs another bowler to cover up for someone who is having a bad day with the ball.

6. Shahrukh Khan

The fans will be hoping that Shahrukh Khan gets more opportunities this time. During his last stint with Punjab, he rarely got chances and there was no way that he could showcase his talent. A well-known finisher, Khan has got all the talent to be the next big thing in Indian cricket.

He can tear apart any bowling attack on his day. With a decent strike rate of 134.21, Khan has been a decent performer in the IPL. The only thing he needs is a team that backs him continuously and after shelling out INR 9 crore, PBKS will definitely be looking to pick him in the playing XI.

There is no doubt that Shahrukh will make it into the national side later on. With the World Cup approaching, it is the right time for him to shine. Hence, all eyes will be on Shahrukh as he looks to establish himself.

7. Jason Holder

Sharp, tall, and effective. These three words are sufficient to describe someone like Jason Holder. The former Windies captain is one of the best all-rounders in the world and can chip in with useful contributions with the bat and the ball.

Holder has been a part of 26 IPL games so far. With 35 wickets to his name, he has been an effective bowler with an economy rate of 8.2. Adding on, he has an economy rate of 8.07 in T20Is.

Talking about his batting, Holder has scored 189 runs in the tournament. Well, there is nothing much to speak about his batting, but he has been the match-winner for Sunrisers on numerous occasions. With LSG opting for him, he can leave a mark this time.

8. Deepak Chahar

With INR 14 crore to his name, Deepak Chahar became the second-highest-paid cricketer in the current CSK squad. The bowling all-rounder has now to live up to the potential to justify his price tag. But for now, there is no doubt that he has been one of the finest performers with the bat and ball in the country.

Chahar has played 63 IPL games and with 59 wickets to his name, he has been an effective bowler. An economy rate of 7.8 shows why he is a highly rated bowler. If required, he can bowl his full quota of overs in a single spell.

Talking about his batting, Chahar has a T20I strike rate of 244.44. He can smash the ball out of the park as he showed against South Africa. Apart from that, he can consistently contribute useful 15-20 odd runs down the order.

9. Jofra Archer

Even though Jofra Archer will not take part in the 2022 season of the IPL, he will be a part of MI squad in the 2023 season. And a deadly bowling duo of Archer and Bumrah will terrify the batsmen for sure. The management has been spot on by investing in the future.

Jofra Archer is a scary bowler who can easily click the 150 kmph barrier. He has all the variety a bowler needs to outfox the batsman as well. In 25 IPL games, Archer has picked 46 wickets so far.

An economy rate of 7.13 shows his dominance with the ball. The only issue is his fitness as he has been prone to injuries. Talking about his batting, he has an impressive strike rate of 157.26 in the IPL.

10. Yuzvendra Chahal

Over the years, Yuzvendra Chahal was Kohli’s go-to man when it came to tense situations. Well, now, Samson will have the services of Chahal if he needs to get out of tricky situations. This time, the Royals have managed to put up a solid side.

In 114 IPL games, Chahal has picked 139 wickets so far. He is the leading wicket-taker in the history of RCB. Adding on, an economy rate of 7.59 shows that he knows how to stop the flow of runs from one end.

Chahal’s presence brings more experience and hence, the duo of Ashwin and Chahal will help RR to make a mark in the season. Talking about this lineup, he is the premier spinner on the side. Hopefully, Chahal will be in the race for the prestigious Purple cap this season.

11. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan is a skiddy bowler who will always be right under the nose. He is tough and resilient. And with a habit of clicking the 140 kmph mark, Avesh is one of the best upcoming fast bowlers in the country.

This time, Avesh was picked by LSG for a whopping amount of INR 10 crores. His performance during the 2021 season was nothing short of spectacular. Currently, in 25 IPL games, Avesh has picked 29 wickets. As he plays more matches, his stats are destined to improve significantly.

With an economy rate of 8.23, Avesh can bowl during the death overs. In this lineup, he will be bowling alongside Jofra Archer, someone who is a master of death bowling. There is no doubt that he is the future of Indian cricket.
