Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns in the 17^th match of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai Before the game, both the teams were facing a drought of victory as the two hadn’t won a single game in this edition. SRH ended their drought as they sealed a victory in the game, crashing CSK’s dreams of making it big in this season.

The defending champions are not at their best in this edition with four defeats on the trot. Losing the toss, and being put in to bat first, they could only manage to score 154 runs in the 20 overs, losing seven wickets in the play. SRH bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals and didn’t give CSK many opportunities to go for the big shots.

The openers had started well but had to walk back in the powerplay. Moeen Ali was the top scorer for his side with a 35-ball 48, but other batters couldn’t contribute much. Washington Sundar and T Natarajan added two wickets each under their belts as they restricted CSK to an average score, and made it look like it would be an easy win for SRH.

The Kane Williamson-led Orange Army finally got their first victory of the season

Talking about the chase, SRH’s top order punished CSK’s bowlers as they kept looking for a wicket throughout, but could get only one, in the form of Kane Williamson. The openers started very well, and kept their place on the field intact till the end of the powerplay, and even beyond and CSK got the one wicket late in the 13^th over.

Abhishek Sharma’s blistering knock of 75(50) helped SRH sail past CSK, handing them their fourth defeat and thereby opening their account. The young lad lost his wicket during the death overs, but he was the major reason behind his team getting their first points in the game. He was supported by Rahul Tripathi, who remained unbeaten at 39*(15). The Men in Yellow continued their poor run in the game after SRH bagged a comfortable victory.
