The Gujarat Titans will be locking horns with the Punjab Kings in Match 48 of IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on May 3. The table-toppers Gujarat would be upbeat heading into this clash after getting the better of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous fixture, thereby registering their eighth win from nine games. They now have 16 points to their tally.

While Gujarat Titans have been on a roll in the last few matches, they would not be keen on making any changes in their playing XI and instead field the same XI that has yielded them success so far. One more win and the Gujarat-based franchise most probably will consolidate their playoff berth.

Here’s the predicted Playing XI of the Gujarat Titans for Match 48 of IPL 2022:

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk) and Shubman Gill

Wriddhiman Saha seems to have rediscovered his rhythm on the 22 yards with two good performances. After a quickfire 38-ball 68, Saha followed it up with an impactful 29 against RCB. The veteran stumper would look to showcase an even better performance and play a huge role in laying a strong foundation for his side.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill might not have converted his good starts into big scores in the previous two fixtures, but he did contribute immensely in helping GT get off to a good start in both their run chases where they eventually succeeded in getting the job done. The youngster would be eager to play a match-defining role this time around.

Middle-Order: Sai Sudharsan, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia

Gujarat Titans arguably have the strongest middle-order in the tournament that has gone on to win so many matches for them. Newcomer, Sai Sudharsan has scored 66 runs from three games and contributed a 14-ball 20 against RCB that proved to be a vital knock for the Titans.

David Miller has played a significant role for Gujarat on a couple of occasions to finish off the proceedings in style. The Proteas middle-order sensation has 276 runs from nine games, he remained unbeaten on 39 runs from 24 deliveries in the last game. Rahul Tewatia has been the Titans’ saviour this season on multiple occasions. In fact, he was their match-winner in the last two outings against SRH and RCB respectively. His unbeaten 43 off 25 balls  destroyed RCB’s chances of pulling off a much needed win.

All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya (c) and Rashid Khan

With just four wickets from eight outings, skipper Hardik Pandya would look to feature in the wickets column going forward and also roar back to form with the bat. So far, he has amassed 308 runs averaging 51.33 at a strike rate of 135.68 including three half-centuries. The star all-rounder has not been at his best ever since an injury had forced him to miss the CSK clash.

On the other hand, Rashid Khan has played a couple of match-winning cameos and he is one of Gujarat’s main pillars in their line-up. Meanwhile, the Afghan leggie has also been one of their star bowlers having registered nine scalps to his name from as many games at an economy rate of 7.11.

Bowlers: Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph

Mohammed Shami

Senior pacer Pradeep Sangwan was really impressive on his GT debut as he finished with figures of 2/19 from his four overs. He picked up the wickets of RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and a well-set Rajat Patidar. While Lockie Ferguson has been clocking over 150 kmph, the New Zealand speedster has not made much of an impact in the wickets column with just a solitary scalp in the last two games combined.

Mohammed Shami has been the most consistent bowler for the Gujarat Titans with 14 scalps from nine appearances. He would look to climb up the ladder in the Purple Cap list in the next game. While Caribbean pacer Alzarri Joseph did dismiss Mahipal Lomror in the last game, he was GT’s most expensive bowler having conceded 42 runs at an economy rate of 10.50.

Here’s the Predicted XI of Gujarat Titans:

Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Pradeep Sangwan, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph.
