A few players in IPL 2022 could have been used better by their respective teams.

Chetan Sakariya was the rising star of IPL 2021. The left-arm quick took 14 wickets in 14 matches with a splendid economy of 8.19 last year. His outstanding performance in the domestic circuit and IPL 2021 allowed him to represent the Indian team against Sri Lanka. Chetan Sakariya impressed everyone with his seam bowling abilities. The excellent use of slower balls with consistent bowling in the right areas has made him a valuable T20 bowler.

But Chetan has played only two matches in IPL 2022 so far, taking just 1 wicket. However, he was very economical in one of the two matches he played with decent figures of 1 wicket for the expense of 17 runs in his 3 overs. Delhi Capitals’ campaign has not met their expectations. They are lacking the consistency which they had in the previous two seasons. Their inconsistent middle-order has let them down on more than one occasion this season. Their pace attack has been pretty homogeneous with the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, and Khaleel Ahmed.

Chetan Sakariya can bring some variety into their attack and eventually clinch some wickets in the crunch moments. He has been economical throughout his IPL career. The clever use of slower balls can be very deceptive for the opposition batters. As yet, he has been starkly underused but, moving ahead, Delhi Capitals may need to use his services more often as they have a tight rope to walk for their upcoming matches.
