The young left-arm pacer from Punjab gained recognition in the last season of the IPL playing for the Punjab Kings. Arshdeep Singh was a part of the Indian U19 squad of 2018 which lifted the cup. Left-arm seamers are usually a scarcity, which increases his stature even more.

Arshdeep did convincingly in the domestic circuit which earned him an IPL contract from the Punjab Kings in 2019. He made his IPL debut that season but did not get many games thereafter. It was in the later stage of the tournament in 2020 that he got a chance to showcase his talent on the big stage.

He played 8 games in that season and picked 9 wickets at an economy of 8.77. However, his ability to bowl in the death with the proper execution of the yorker was noticed by many. In IPL 2021, he is a regular part of the Punjab Kings’ playing XI and has done reasonably well. CSK can pick Singh as a decent buy in the auction to fill the spot of a death bowler.
