IPL: Number of matches played by Rajasthan Royals players for Team India

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has come as a big boon to the young Indian cricketers. A decade ago, not many had imagined that they could rub shoulders with the international greats in the dressing room. But kudos to the IPL, the youngster get great exposure at an early stage of their careers. The tournament has given several bright stars to the national sides over the years.

The Indian team has also benefited a lot from the exposure and the experience that the IPL is yielding to the Indian cricketers. Much like every other franchise, even Rajasthan Royals has given the Indian side a few players over the years. In the 2018 edition of the tournament, the Royals would be staging a comeback to the IPL roster along with the Chennai Super Kings.

Here we look at the number of matches played by the Rajasthan Royals players for Team India since the inception of IPL:

The Rajasthan Royals did not participate in the previous two editions of the tournament. Prior to that, in the year 2015, a good number of 14 matches were played by the Indian team that featured the players from the Rajasthan Royals camp.

In the year that preceded that season, the number was an even better one with 22 matches played by the players of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian colors. In the year 2013, the number was a low one though. Only four matches were played by the RR players in the Indian outfit.

RR players who made most of their opportunity

The biggest name that comes to the mind when talking about the Indian contingent in the Rajasthan Royals camp is Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane managed to make it to the Indian side in the limited overs formats as well riding on impressive outing with the Royals.

Also, young Kerala cricketer Sanju Samson rose to prominence with a successful outing in the Royals jersey. In the bowling department, Dhawal Kulkarni managed to make his debut for the Indian team as well after performing well for the Royals in the IPL.

RR players to lookout for this year

In the coming season, the team has roped in the services of Rahul Tripathi. The hard-hitting Maharashtra opener had become a household name during the previous edition of the IPL after some very consistent knocks for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant.

Also, the team has the Karnataka all-rounder K Gowtham. K Gowtham is known as the ‘new Bhajji’ in the domestic cricket circle. The talented off-spinner has trained with legendary former cricketer E Prasanna. Also, he has the ability to hit towering maximums.
