The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decimated the Rajasthan Royals side by 45 runs to register their second win in the 14th edition of the IPL. After posting a total of 188/9 on the board, the ‘Yellow Brigade’ restricted their opposition to a total of just 143/9 to romp home with ease.

Apart from Jos Buttler, who scored 49, none of the other batsmen from the Rajasthan side stepped up to the occasion. Even though Rahul Tewatia and Jaydev Unadkat contributed 20 and 24 respectively, they never really threatened the CSK side in any way. And in the end, the Sanju Samson-led side went down to CSK by a margin of 45 runs.

For Chennai, Moeen Ali was the pick of the bowlers. The off-spinner scalped 3 wickets in the 3 overs that he bowled, and gave away just 7 runs. Apart from Ali, Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each.

A collective effort with the willow helps CSK post 188/9

Faf du Plessis provided a blistering start for the Chennai side at the top of the order. The right-hander blazed his way to 33 at a strike rate of 194.12. Apart from du Plessis, the likes of Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo contributed attractive cameos with the willow.

Youngster Chetan Sakariya was the pick of the bowlers for the Rajasthan outfit. The left-arm seamer scalped 3 wickets in the 4 overs that he bowled, giving away 36 runs. And, with this victory, the CSK side now occupies 2nd place in the points table, while the Rajasthan side is placed at the 6th position.
