Earlier, Rohit Sharma failed to get going with the bat for the Mumbai Indians. The ‘Hitman’ scored just 8 runs before he was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi. Suryakumar Yadav’s abysmal run with the bat continued, as he departed for a first-ball duck.

After De Kock’s departure, Saurabh Tiwary kept the fight going for the ‘Men in Blue’, and scored 45 off 37 deliveries.

Riding on a 29-ball 42 from Aiden Markram and a sedate 28 from Deepak Hooda, the Punjab Kings side posted a total of 135/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Other batsmen like KL Rahul (21) and Mandeep Singh (15) got starts, but could not kick on and score big.

On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard picked up 2 wickets each for the Mumbai side, while Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya picked up a solitary wicket. With this win, the Mumbai Indians have moved to 5th place in the points table, while the Punjab side is occupying 6th place.
