It's a good news that RCB can score more than 200 runs without Virat Kohli's contribution: Aakash Chopra

Chopra also lauded the explosive knocks played by AB de Villiers and Shivam Dube against someone like Jasprit Bumrah, who's known for his lethal spells in the death overs.

IPL 2020, on Monday, dished out yet another high-scoring thriller as two heavyweights– Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma– locked horns with each other in the tenth match of the tournament. In an edge-of-your-seat thriller, Royal Challengers Bangalore edged past Mumbai Indians via a super over.

After both sides amassed 201 runs on the scoreboard, it all boiled down to a dramatic super over where the dependable Kohli-AB de Villiers duo steered RCB past the finishing line. By thumping the Mumbai side, Kohli’s men registered their second victory of the tournament.

Reacting to RCB’s triumph, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has mentioned that the Bangalore franchise would be delighted to have put up a substantial score on the board without any significant contribution from skipper Kohli. The RCB captain continued his woeful form with the bat as he managed to score just 3 runs. Kohli, in fact, has scored just 18 runs in his three IPL 2020 outings.

“That is a concern but it is a good news as well because if RCB could score more than 200 runs without Virat Kohli’s contribution, what will they do when he gets his form. I shudder to think what will happen, their batting will become terrific,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Chopra also lauded the explosive knocks played by AB de Villiers and Shivam Dube against someone like Jasprit Bumrah, who’s known for his lethal spells in the death overs. “After that, AB de Villiers was amazing and Dube came and hit a lot. They reached beyond 200 and hit Bumrah a lot,” he said.

The best knock of the match was from Ishan Kishan: Aakash Chopra

The former Kolkata Knight Riders player also highlighted that the best knock of the match was played by Ishan Kishan, who almost took MI past the finishing line by his 58-ball 99.

The youngster even took apart the three best bowlers in the RCB attack. Chopra signed off by stating that Ishan has also proved his worth, stating that he’s ready to pave his way into the Indian side along with the likes of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.

“The best knock of the match was from Ishan Kishan because of the manner in which he played. He was playing his first match and started slowly but after that the way he started hitting, the sixes he hit of Navdeep Saini, Udana and Chahal – he was absolutely sensational.

He is saying that he should get an opportunity for India as well. He is saying that he needs to be in the India hopefuls list along with Pant and Samson,” Chopra concluded.
