Mumbai Indians can take full credit of unleashing Jasprit Bumrah and giving him chances to become one of the finest fast bowlers India has ever produced. The no. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings, Jasprit Bumrah has made his mark in all the three formats of the game, after his successful Test debut in 2018.

In the IPL 2019 opener for the Mumbai Indians, he endured an off day, going for 40 runs in his 4 overs, especially being carted all over the park by Rishabh Pant during his 27-ball onslaught. He also had an injury scare during the last ball of his spell, as he hurt his shoulder diving for a ball and the nation had its heart in the mouth with World Cup just around the corner.

AB de Villiers feels Bumrah is bound to go for runs once in a while

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will face off in their IPL 2019 encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday. The RCB batsman AB de Villiers feels that Jasprit Bumrah will be under pressure when both the teams clash while also pointing out that the pitch in Bengaluru is always good for batting.

“No one is perfect and yes Bumrah is a very good bowler but he is also not supposed to get it right all the time. Here the ground is not very huge and the wicket is more often than not good for the batters. For that matter, all the bowlers are under pressure here,” AB de Villiers said in the pre-match press conference.

The Chinnaswamy stadium is famous for its small boundaries and is the flattest pitch in IPL, making it batsmen’s paradise, which was on showcase, when Chris Gayle smashed 175*, the highest score not just in the IPL, but in all T20s, in 2013 edition of the league against the Pune Warriors.

“It is up to us batters to play a good game in the next match, assess the conditions well. Whichever wicket we are getting we need to play better cricket than the last game,” the former South Africa captain said.
