Virender Sehwag is known for his uncanny tweets on Twitter and his unorthodox commentary in the commentary box. He yet again made the news when he tweeted against or not in support of the daughter of the Kargil-martyr.

A year ago Gurmehar Kaur, the daughter, featured in a video where she held a placard that read “Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him”. Recently, she posted on Twitter in support of the students, who were attacked by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) over the participation of Jawaharlal Nehru University students in a Seminar.

She again held a placard this time. The placard said “I AM A STUDENT OF DELHI UNIVERSITY. I AM NOT AFRAID OF ABVP. I AM NOT ALONE. EVERY STUDENT OF INDIA IS WITH ME. #FIGHTBACKDU #STUDENTSAGAINSTABVP.”

Virender Sehwag, being himself posted a photo of himself on Twitter. The photo featured him holding a placard that read “I didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did,” and the photo was captioned “Bat me hai Dum ! #BharatJaisiJagahNahi.”

Some of the fans did not take this well as he was thrashed on Twitter by many. However, Randeep Hooda laughed it out with the former Indian Opener.

He tweeted “@ShekharGupta @virendersehwag what’s sad is that the poor girl is being used as political pawn and it seems you are a party to it ..”

Javed Akhtar, who has written a film called Lakshya on Kargil, seemed fairly upset as he indirectly hit back at the former Indian batsman. He tweeted saying that some illiterate people going against Gurmehar can be understood and questioned that how can literate people do the same. The tweet from the writer read, “If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr its understandable but whats wrong with some educated folks.” This dig at the Indian cricketer shows how annoyed Javed Akhtar is.
