The English team is in trouble on the field as the Indian batsmen continue to pile on their agony with the bat in the second innings and it magnified further when Jonny Bairstow injured his finger and had to walk off the field. It was a James Anderson delivery, short of length and Cheteshwar Pujara let it go while trying to pocket the ball Bairstow couldn’t catch it cleanly and ended up hurting himself.

He was in a lot of pain and the team’s physio ran out to assess him. Bairstow was looking all red and took his gloves off and he went out of the field with the physio. The England team is blessed to have another keeper in their ranks and Jos Buttler got his kit from the dressing room and took over the duties.

As per the latest update from ECB, Bairstow is off to the hospital for an X-ray on the middle finger of his left hand. Though England wouldn’t mind missing Bairstow behind the wickets but they will certainly look at him to get them the runs. As of now, the Indians have managed a lead of over 370 runs. To chase that kind of a total down in the fourth innings, they will look up to their highest run aggregator in this series.

He has 206 runs to his name in five innings and has thrice gone past the fifty-run mark. Overall in the series, he is also the second highest run-scorer behind Indian skipper Virat Kohli. India after obtaining a 168-run first inning lead are 200/2 are batting pretty comfortably and seem to be in no hurry whatsoever.

Bairstow returns back

As the game progressed, Bairstow returned to the dressing room after the Lunch interval and he was sitting there with his finger in a glass full of ice water.
