South African batsman JP Duminy became the latest player to join the league of many players who have tipped Rahul Dravid to be the best contender for the role of India’s next head coach. JP Duminy is currently playing in the IPL for the Delhi Daredevils, the side that is being mentored by Rahul Dravid.
A few days earlier, Ricky Ponting had opined that Dravid is perhaps the best choice for the national team coach. Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian batsman, also vouched for Rahul Dravid as the next coach and said the BCCI will not get any better candidates than him.
Now, Duminy, in a conversation with ‘The Telegraph’, said that Rahul Dravid has the experience of working with the U19 team and also an IPL side, which makes him more than suitable for the coveted job. “Rahul has done his apprenticeship – Worked with India A and the India U-19s, Mentored teams in the IPL. He’s through with the hard yards, now he has to make an important call,” quoted Duminy.
He asserted, though, that Dravid has to confirm whether he is up for the job or not before anything else happens. “If Rahul himself wants the job, he’s first got to have that desire,” said the 32-year old.

The South African batsman was all praise for the man management skills that Dravid has. Commenting on his experience with the legendary batsman, Duminy quoted “It has been great. What stands out is Rahul’s man-management skills.”
“When a mentor or coach deals with international players, it’s not about teaching technique. But, getting the best out of everybody. Rahul is aware of what is required, knows how to get the best out of the franchise’s players,” JP Duminy added further.
Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, too, has batted for Rahul Dravid to be the next head coach and tipped Zaheer Khan to coach the bowling department.
