Former India batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has risked the ire of his compatriots with his comment on the dastardly Pulwama terror attack. In one of the worst attacks on the Indian security forces, at least 44 CRPF personnel lost their lives on Thursday after an SUV loaded with explosives rammed into a truck carrying the soldiers. Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) took responsibility for the ghastly attack.

But while the whole country was condemning the attack and was mourning the martyrdom of the brave souls, Sidhu stirred the hornet’s rest by sensationally defending Pakistan. The cricketer-turned-politician said that terrorism has no religion, no nation, stating that entire Pakistan could not be blamed for few. Unsurprisingly his ill-timed comment caused a huge outrage and the public demanded him to sack from comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show.

Reports suggest that Sony TV has replaced Sidhu with Bollywood actress Archana Puran Singh but nothing is yet confirmed now. And now Kapil Sharma has finally broken his silence over the controversy. The host of the highly-popular show first confirmed that Archana was shooting with the show only because Sidhu was busy before saying that removing the ex-cricketer is not the way forward.

“Navjot Singh Sidhu is busy with his prior commitments due to which Archana Puran Singh is shooting with us. Recently, Sony TV posted a TKSS promo featuring Archana Puran Singh,” he told Zee News.

“These are very small things, or can also be a part of propaganda. I feel banning someone or sacking Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show (The Kapil Sharma Show) is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution,” he added.

The star comedian also expressed his feeling over the ghastly attack in Kashmir, saying that his support is with the government. He also said that the terrorists should be punished for their cowardly act. “We are with the government but still we need a permanent solution. The cowardly act in Pulwama that killed our soldiers shouldn’t be forgotten and the culprits should be punished,” Kapil added.
