Karun Nair may not be having a great time in his cricketing career, but he has a lot to cheer in his personal life. Recently, the Karnataka batsman got engaged to long-time girlfriend Sanaya Tankariwala. The couple went on a vacation and the 27-year-old Nair chose it as an occasion to make his proposal. He uploaded a picture where his loved one was planting a kiss on his cheeks.

Nair also shared a heartfelt video of their proposal where he was seen bending on one knee to pleasantly surprise Sanaya. Nair pulled out the ring and seeing so, Sanaya was on cloud nine. With the restless sea in the background, blended with an exotic cold breeze added to the romantic scene. Now it has been known that Karun is set to tie the knots with Sanaya in around five months.

An overjoyed Sanaya put forth the happy development on Twitter. She uploaded an adorable picture with Nair to make the announcement. She captioned it and wrote, “I get to marry the love of my life in 5 months #engaged #hookedandbooked,”

Karun Nair’s topsy-turvy journey on the field

Nair burst on to the scene back in November 2016, making his Test debut versus England. In the third game of the series, he turned up with an unbeaten knock of 303 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He became the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to get a triple ton. However, the right-handed batsman lost his spot in the team after only six matches.

He made his comeback for the one-off Test versus Afghanistan back in June 2018, but couldn’t break into the eleven. Thereafter, he was a part of the squad for the away Test series against the Three Lions. Even as the likes of Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari made their debuts, Nair had to continue warming the benches, which would’ve added to his despair and agony.

Thereafter, he was left out of the two-match series versus the Windies at home, a move that came as a surprise to many. His last competitive match came back in the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), led by Ravi Ashwin.
