The Titans finished 2nd in the league stage last year and ended up 3rd in the playoffs. Two of the popular faces in the cricket circuit Mahmudullah Riyad and Shafiul Islam had to skip the event, as both are participating in the ongoing series against South Africa.

Tamim Iqbal made his presence felt

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was present with his family. Tamim plays for Comilla Victorians but his brother Nafees Iqbal is the manager of the Titan franchise. The jersey unveiling was followed by a laser show while everyone kept grooving to their latest team song. A certain number of lucky kids took to the stage along with the chairman of the franchise, Kazi Nabil Ahmed; their managing director, Kazi Inam Ahmed; editor of Bangla Tribune, Zulfiqer Russel and the editor of Dhaka Tribune, Zafar Sobhan.

Titans have named former Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene as their coach and he will be replacing the current West Indies coach Stuart Law. “Thanks to Khulna Titans for appointing me as head coach.”, Jayawardene said.
“I played in the last BPL, and I am the coach this time around. This tournament is fiercely competitive. I am looking forward to the new challenge.”

“The Titans will march ahead,” said the chairman, Kazi Nabil. We will be beside our cheering fans and we will maintain our individuality as a team.”

Earlier, managing director Kazi Inam too sounded very confident of their chances, “No one thought we would reach playoffs last time. We played very well despite it being our first season.”
