It’s been a stop-start kind of a tournament for Kings XI Punjab so far. They are the only team to have played nine games in this IPL and are currently placed fourth on the points table with 10 points. They haven’t been able to gain some continuous momentum as they have failed to win more than two matches in a row. In fact, they have also not lost more than two games in a row.

However, the Ravichandran Ashwin-led side will be pleased with the way they bounced back in their last game against Rajasthan Royals. They were behind in the game with the bat initially but recovered well to post a strong total of 182 on the board. The bowlers, led by the two Indian spinners, Ravichandran and Murugan Ashwin helped them defend the total which was slightly above par. It was KXIP’s fourth win at home and their only loss here came against Royal Challengers Bangalore a few days back.

KXIP awaiting news on Moises Henriques and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s injuries

Moises Henriques who has played for four IPL different teams (Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad) was all set to make his first appearance for his fifth IPL franchise – Kings XI Punjab. Then comes a blinder of injuring himself before the toss. In fact, he even received his cap but went on to hurt his ankle while taking catch practice.

KXIP have another injury concern to deal with. Mujeeb Ur Rahman who bowled three overs in the powerplay hurt his shoulder while fielding in the game against RR. He dived to save a boundary at deep cover and in the process, hurt his shoulder. He was griming in pain and had to walk off the field. Mandeep Singh bowled the remaining one over for Punjab to cover up Mujeeb’s quota.

KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that the team is waiting for the injury updates on the two players. “Moises went on to take a catch during warm-ups and injured his ankle while Mujeeb picked up a shoulder injury during the match. Both are awaiting further results,” Ashwin was quoted saying. KXIP next travel to Delhi to take on the Delhi Capitals on the 20th of April.
