Kolkata Knight Riders continued their winning streak and registered an impressive victory against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, September 23. KKR outplayed MI to exude their dominance and make it to the top four in the points table. This tempted former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra to drop two bold predictions.

MI got to a steady start but KKR restricted the side to a total of 155. Chasing down the target, Venkatesh Iyer yet again displayed his fiefdom and scored a belligerent half-century. Rahul Tripathi, on the other hand, smashed the MI bowlers all around the park to play impressive innings of unbeaten 74.

After this splendid win by KKR, Aakash Chopra took it to his official Twitter account and predicted that KKR would play the finals of this edition of the IPL. He also made another shocking prediction wherein Chopra stated that he won’t be surprised if the five-times IPL champions, MI doesn’t make it to the playoffs this season.

KKR previously secured a dominating win against RCB

The first half of the Indian Premier League had to be paused as Covid entered a few camps. This break was expected to go well for a few teams to help them seal the holes in their side if any. Thus, it is seeming that KKR has benefitted from the break as they have bounced back stronger in the UAE leg of the IPL.

In their first match of the UAE leg, KKR locked horns with RCB. The bowlers of the side ran through RCB’s powerful batting line-up. Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russel clinched three wickets each and troubled the RCB batters. Lockie Ferguson was also quite economical and picked up two wickets in the match.

No batter from RCB could provide enough resistance as the team was wrapped up for just 92. KKR then took the charge of the field with the bat wherein their openers provided the team with flying starts. Shubman Gill fell just two runs short of his half-century and Venkatesh Iyer impressed the cricketing fraternity with his knock of unbeaten 41. KKR won the match by nine wickets.
