Match Details:

The 3rd match of the Karnataka Premier League 2019 will be played between Bellary Tuskers and Belagavi Panthers at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The match starts at 7:00 PM local time (IST) (1:30 PM GMT).

This game will be live on Star Sports and live streaming is available on Hotstar.

Preview:

Bellary Tuskers and Belagavi Panthers stood as the champions in the 2016 and 2017 editions respectively. But both narrowly missed out on making it to the semi-finals in 2018. This time around, both the teams look solid as none of their key players will be part of Duleep Trophy or other BCCI competitions. Tuskers are led by CM Gautam while Mir Kaunian Abbas leads the Panthers.

Bellary has got the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Krishnappa Gowtham and Prasidh Krishna in their side; the three players covering the three different departments. Belagavi is much stronger in comparison to the Tuskers. They have Shubhang Hegde, D Negi and R Samarth in their squad and also Manish Pandey who might miss only the first match.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather forecast isn’t that great for the 3rd game and the result of the opening could be repeated again. The reason for no result during the first game was a never-ending drizzle. The outfield conditions were under control at the Chinnaswamy Stadium irrespective of the continuous rain.

Pitch Condition/Report:

A batsman-friendly pitch can be expected for the evening game if the weather permits. The moisture in the pitch could go away if it is exposed under the sun during the 3 PM match. Under the lights, a fresh pitch could test the patience of the batsmen like it did on Friday during the tournament opener.

Average first innings score: 174 (KPL matches in 2018)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 2

Injury and Availability News:

Manish Pandey arrived from the Caribbean on Friday morning. He might be jet-lagged and could play from the 2nd match.

Probable Playing XIs:

Bellary Tuskers:

CM Gautam (C), Devdutt Padikkal, CA Karthik, Abhishek Reddy, Krishnappa Gowtham, Prasidh Krishna, Abrar Kazi, KP Appanna, Bhavesh Gulecha, Sharath Srinivas, Zeeshan A Sayyad.

Bench: Mohammad N Nizar, Suraj Reddy, Ruchir Joshi, Santok Singh, Vishnu Priyan, Gaurav Dhiman, Sharana Basawa

Top Picks:

Ravikumar Samarth missed the previous edition due to Duleep Trophy and other commitments. He was impressive in the 2017 edition where he struck four wickets in only six innings scoring 315 runs at an average of 63. He would be hoping to replicate that success. Similarly, Krishnappa Gowtham last featured in 2017 where he claimed 11 wickets and aggregated 113 runs.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – Krishnappa Gowtham, Ravikumar Samarth, Avinash D

Vice-captain – Devdutt Padikkal, Mir Kaunian Abbas, Shubhang Hegde

Devdutt Padikkal and Mir Kaunian Abbas would be anchoring the innings for their respective teams.

Suggested Playing XI for Head to Head/Small Leagues:

Keeper – CM Gautam

Batsmen – Mir Kaunian Abbas, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravikumar Samarth (VC)

All-Rounders – Avinash D, D Negi, Krishnappa Gowtham (C), Darshan MB

Bowlers – Shubhang Hegde, Bhavesh Gulecha, Prasidh Krishna

Suggested Playing XI for Grand Leagues/Mega Leagues:

Keeper – Sharath Srinivas

Batsmen – Abhishek Reddy, Ravikumar Samarth, Devdutt Padikkal (VC)

All-Rounders – D Avinash (C), D Negi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Arshdeep Singh Brar

Bowlers – Shubhang Hegde, Zeeshan A Sayyad, Prasidh Krishna

Expert Advice:

Shubhang Hegde is interestingly placed in the bowlers’ category. The young player is a proper all-rounder and can make most with the bat if he gets a chance. As his price is only 8.5 credits, he could be seen in most fantasy teams.

Probable Winners:

Bellary Tuskers might give a tough fight to Belagavi Panthers who could open their win count straight away.
