Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has recently given his opinions on the unceremonious and abrupt exit of Anil Kumble as the coach of the Indian cricket team. Ganguly now has a big task in hand as he is one of the three members of the Chief Advisory Committee (CAC). Ganguly, along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, has the task of finalizing the next head coach of the Indian team.

It is because of this reason that the former Indian skipper found himself in the line of the media men recently. As per the quotes in Hindustan Times, a reporter asked Sourav Ganguly about the tentative date for the announcement of the next coach. Ganguly noted that Anil Kumble stepped down from the post at the last moment. Hence, it is obvious that it will take some time to appoint the new coach of the team.

He was clear in his view when he said that the new appointment cannot be made so early. “He has resigned at the last minute. It is not possible to have someone (so early),” Sourav Ganguly quoted.

On Kumble’s decision

When asked about the decision taken by Kumble to step down as the head coach, Sourav remarked that there is nothing that he can comment on it. The decision to leave the position was a personal choice that the former Indian leg spinner made. It was the decision of the coach and has to be respected. “I don’t know. It is his personal choice. I don’t want to talk about it. It is a decision of the coach,” remarked Ganguly.

In the recent times, there were several reports of the things not being very fruitful between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble. Kumble, in his note after stepping down, noted that the relationship was untenable and hence he had to quit the post.
