The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw action between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. KXIP registered a convincing victory by five wickets to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Batting first in the game, the entire order of Delhi collapsed, but ace batter Shikhar Dhawan was their saviour. He smashed his second consecutive century in IPL (106* off 61) to help Delhi post a respectable 164/5 on the board.

Despite DC’s loss, Shikhar Dhawan was named the man of the match for his scintillating ton. Mohammed Shami again led the pace attack of Punjab like a hero and conceded 28 runs to pick two wickets. Glenn Maxwell also remained quite economical and knocked down Rishabh Pant.

KXIP back in race for playoffs

Chasing the target in Dubai, the amazing opening stand of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal failed to get something significant for the team. Nicholas Pooran smashed a prolific half-century (53 off 28) to get his team over the line. It was great for Punjab to finally see Glenn Maxwell clicking with the bat as he added 32 off 24 from his end.

Universe Boss Chris Gayle played an essential cameo of 29 off 13 that was laced with some thunderous boundaries. Kagiso Rabada and Ravi Ashwin maintained the perfect pace and spin balance for their team to get two and one wickets, respectively.
