Eddo Brandes was run out for a diamond duck trying to bring Houghton back on strike.
New Zealand faced Zimbabwe in a group match at Hyderabad (Deccan), batted first and scored 242/7 with the help of 64 from Martin Snedden and 72 from Martin Crowe. Zimbabwe’s reply just had 2 characters in them Dave Houghton who scored an almost match winning 142 and Iain Butchart who made 54. But Zimbabwe still fell short by 3 runs.
