Australia will take on England in the second Test of the ongoing The Ashes on Thursday, December 4, at The Gabba in Brisbane. In the first game, England won the toss and elected to bat. Things went downhill for the English team after winning the toss. The batters got bundled out for a mere 172 runs. Mitchell Starc bowled his best bowling figures in an innings and took seven wickets for 58 runs.
Australia didn’t have a great outing either with the bat and got all out for just 132 runs. No batter managed to score more than 30 runs for Australia. Ben Stokes was the pick of the bowlers for England and took five wickets for 23 runs.
In the second innings, Ollie Pope and Gus Atkinson finished with 30-plus runs to their names. England could make only 164 runs before getting all out in 34.4 overs. Starc and Brendan Doggett took three wickets each, while Scott Boland picked up four wickets.
In the fourth innings, Travis Head played a knock of 123 runs off just 83 deliveries and guided Australia to a win by eight wickets. Marnus Labuschagne made an unbeaten 51 runs off 49 deliveries. Starc won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance.
