Preview

Bangladesh will be up against Sri Lanka in the first warm-up match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 29. Bangladesh have not been in too great of a form recently, winning just one of their last five matches, while Sri Lanka have won three of their last five outings. This is going to be an important match for both these teams, getting acclimatised to the situations for the World Cup.

Bangladesh had squared off against New Zealand in their last match, where Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. Will Young and Adam Milne both had a standout performance with the bat and the ball. Young led New Zealand to 175-3 by hitting 70 off 80 balls. The hosts were limited to 171 in 34.3 overs by Milne's 4-34. Najmul Hossain, the stand-in skipper for Bangladesh, scored the most runs (76) but was unable to give the hosts a competitive total due to a lack of assistance at the other end after choosing to bat first. New Zealand had an easy win by seven wickets.

Sri Lanka had squared off against India in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. The final game of the Asia Cup turned out to be a nightmare for the Lankans as Siraj ripped apart their batting lineup. He picked up six wickets, giving away just 21 runs as Sri Lanka were bowled out for a record low total of just 50. Such a total was never going to be an issue for the in-form batting lineup of the Indian team. They chased the total in just six overs and won the match emphatically by 10 wickets.
