Sunil Narine, Player of the Match:

It was a complete team effort. The way we started with Gurbaz, then Angkrish [Raghuvanshi], and Rinku—everyone contributed. I still back myself to come back strong and deliver for the team. Some games you start well and struggle later, and in others, you start slow. I enjoyed all the wickets today; every one of them was important. The more wickets you take, the better it is for the team.

[On the direct hit] I’m not the greatest fielder, so it felt good to get a run-out. Just picked up the ball and threw it as hard as I could!

Self-pride keeps me going. I always want to give the captain the option of having me as a dependable player. If you want to be that kind of cricketer, you have to keep working hard—even when there’s no scheduled training.

Ajinkya Rahane:

The hand isn’t too bad, I’ll be okay. When Sunil came on to bowl and picked up two wickets, and then they lost three in the middle, I felt the game was in our hands. But yes, we did feel we were a bit short with the bat. Sunil bowled really well, got good support from Russell, and Roy also did a great job. He’s been performing well for us, so we backed him. What’s important is to carry the confidence from this moment forward.

[Narine] He’s been a champion bowler for this franchise—a true match-winner. As a captain, it's great to have players like him and Varun in the side. Narine’s been arriving early for practice, putting in the hard work, and even focusing on his batting.

[Russell] Dre has also been working hard on his bowling. He’s been practicing yorkers in training, and we believed in him. Every time he’s bowled, he’s delivered with a wicket. He’s been fantastic for us.

Axar Patel:

I think, considering the nature of the wicket and our bowling in the powerplay, we conceded 15–20 runs too many. Additionally, we lost a few wickets in a soft manner. The positive aspect was how we managed to restrict them after the powerplay. Regarding our batting, even though a few batters didn't perform, 2–3 of us contributed and took it very close. When Vipraj was batting, there was hope; if Ashutosh had been there, we might have replicated the first game's success. I suffered a skin abrasion while diving on the practice wickets to stop the ball, but the good thing is we have a 3–4 day break, and hopefully, I will recover.
