Preview

Durham will lock horns with Lancashire in the 34th match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on June 2. Durham have won two of their three matches and are placed in the fourth position in the rankings of the North Group. Lancashire, on the other hand, have won three out of their five matches and are placed third in the standings.

Durham had played against Nottinghamshire in their last match, where Nottinghamshire won the toss, and they chose to field. Durham had started well with a good scoring rate as well. Even their middle order participated and scored the bulk of the runs. However, they could not finish on a high as they would have expected after having such a good start. They finished the innings om 168 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Nottinghamshire started much better than their counterparts and were always above the required run rate. They did not lose too many wickets either and, as a result, chased down the score with five balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

Lancashire squared off against Yorkshire in their last encounter, where Lancashire won the toss and elected to field. Yorkshire started in a great manner with an opening partnership of 88 runs. There were decent contributions from the middle order, which helped them push to a huge total of 195 runs, but the star performer with the bat remained Dawid Malan, who scored 83 off 50 balls. Lancashire did not start too well while their middle order did most of the scoring, but the run rate was maintained properly. Even some flourish at the end proved to be too late, and they fell short of 15 runs.
