India and Sri Lanka will play the third T20I of the ongoing series on Saturday (January 7) at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. India won the first game by a mere margin of two runs after posting a total of 162 runs on the board. The inexperience of the bowling unit almost cost them the game. The bowlers were tested in the second T20I and failed completely. The Sri Lankan middle order failed to contribute in the first game, but the batting unit clicked in the last game. The batters posted a humongous total of 206 runs on the board in 20 overs. Umaran Malik did pick three wickets for the team but gave away 48 runs. Sri Lanka managed to solve most of the issues they had in the first game and, hence, could outperform the Indian team. They won their first T20I against India in India since February 2016.
The Indian team will have to do a lot of homework to avoid a series loss that has not happened since September 2019. The Sri Lankan team has not won a single T20I series on Indian soil and have a wonderful opportunity to change this record. Both teams have their own set of issues going into this game, and again the team that will solve most of these problems on the field will likely walk away with the trophy.
