Preview

The 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has entered its business end after delivering nearly a month of thrilling action. Four teams have filtered down for the battle for the championship, with Islamabad United (ISL) taking on Quetta Gladiators (QUE) on Friday (March 15) in a do-or-die match.

The two teams who have secured the third and fourth positions in the points table after the league stage will meet in Eliminator 1. The stage is set for an exciting encounter at the National Stadium in Karachi. Both the teams had equal points (11) in the group stage, but United's higher net run rate (NRR) placed them above their rival.

While one group stage encounter between the two was marred by rain, the Gladiators won the other by three wickets. However, considering its recent form, United will enter the upcoming fixture as a more confident unit. In their last matches, Shadab Khan and Co. won by three wickets, while Karachi Kings crushed Gladiators by 79 runs.

Notably, the winner of today’s match will have one more hurdle to cross in order to advance to the final – an encounter on March 16 with the losers of Qualifier 1 (Multan Sultans vs. Peshawar Zalmi).
