Preview

Sri Lanka will lock horns with the Netherlands in the final match of the Super Sixes round of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 9. Sri Lanka have won all their five matches in the Super Sixes round and are at the top of the table. On the other hand, the Netherlands have won three of their five matches and are second in the rankings.

Sri Lanka had played against West Indies in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field. West Indies had a decent start with some good scoring, but once they lost their first wicket, it opened the gates, and they kept losing them at regular intervals. Keacy Carty played a fine knock of 87 runs in the middle, which helped them reach a total of 243 runs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka had a dreamy start where the opening stand lasted for 190 runs. The chase was a mere formality then, which they completed with almost six overs to spare. A century from Nissanka helped Sri Lanka win the match by eight wickets.

The Netherlands had squared off against Scotland in their last match, where the Netherlands won the toss and elected to bowl. Scotland lost their first wicket early but had a decent second-wicket partnership. Brandon McMullen looked really good in the middle, scoring a fantastic century, with Richie Berrington reaching his fifty as well. Scotland posted a good total of 277 runs on the board. The Netherlands started well but lost some wickets in quick succession. It did not prove to be too grave a problem for them due to fantastic fifth and sixth wicket partnerships. The Netherlands won the match by four wickets with seven overs to spare.
