Logan Van Beek reflects on WC Qualifier Super Over heroics
World Cup Qualifiers 2023
The crucial ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier 2023 is all set to kickstart on Sunday, June 18, with the final slated to be played on July 3 at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe. The competition will feature 10 teams as each fixture will be of high stakes as it accounts for the final two spots in the 2023 ODI World Cup, slated to be played in India in October.
Prior to the main event, the participants will play two warm-up games starting on Tuesday, June 13. All matches during the event will be played in Harare and Bulawayo across four venues.
Notably, the 10 teams in the qualifiers are divided into two groups of five teams each as hosts Zimbabwe, the West Indies, the Netherlands, Nepal and the United States make up Group A. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman and the United Arab Emirates are part of Group B.
Each team will play every other team in their group in a single round-robin fashion with the top three from each group progressing to the Super Six stage. Moreover, the Super Six will kickstart on June 29 whereas the bottom two teams from each group will compete in the Playoff. Eventually the two finalists of the Qualifiers will cement their berths in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
